Calgary International Airport (YYC) is the closest airport. It is a modern and relatively uncrowded facility. It handles major airlines from around the world with daily non-stop and direct flights.

From the New York area, there are two direct flights, Air Canada and WestJet (A Canadian version of JetBlue).

Upon arriving to Calgary, guests can either rent a car from the car rental companies, located directly across the passenger pickup area, or utilize the many shuttle/car service options.

Customs, is done in Calgary, a valid Passport is necessary.

The Calgary International Airport is in the north eastern quarter of the city of Calgary.
All directions to Banff will require travel westward.

DEPART the Calgary International Airport.
At the first intersection (there is a Husky station on the left hand corner) TURN LEFT (North) onto Barlow Trail.
Follow Barlow Trail for approximately 2 minutes until you reach the EXIT for Airport Trail.
TURN LEFT (West) onto Airport Trail. Continue driving on Airport Trail for approximately 2 minutes until you reach the EXIT for Deerfoot Trail (Hwy 2).
TURN RIGHT (North) onto Deerfoot Trail (Hwy 2). Continue North on Deerfoot Trail for about 5 minutes, EXIT onto Stoney Trail West. Continue on Stoney Trail for approximately 20 minutes until you reach Highway 1 (aka 16th Ave)
TURN RIGHT (West) onto Highway 1. Continue on Highway 1 for approximately 1 hour until you reach the Banff National Park entrance gates. Once you have passed through the park gates, continue driving West for approximately 15 minutes until you reach the first EXIT to Banff (Banff/Lake Minnewanka exit).
Take the Banff exit, TURN LEFT at the stop sign onto Banff Avenue and continue straight. You will drive through the town of Banff until you reach the Bow River Bridge.
CROSS the bridge and at its end TURN LEFT onto Spray Avenue and stay to the left on this road until you reach the Fairmont Banff Springs at the end.

Distance from Hotel: 92 miles
Drive Time: 1 hour 30 minutes

GPS Alert: Guests often run into trouble with GPS directions prior to getting onto the Trans Canada Highway 1. We suggest following the written directions below until you get onto Highway 1.

 

PARK ENTRANCE FEES


Entry and service fees are charged at most national parks and national historic sites, where revenues are kept to support visitor services and facilities.
Upon entering Banff National Park via Trans Canada Highway 1, you will approach the Park Gate where the entry and service fees will be collected. In most cases it will be advisable to use the Family/Group rate, which is
Passengers who are driving through and not staying in the Park, as well as for passengers who already have a pass, may drive through the Good Faith lane, which is to the far right.

Self parking: the Fairmont will be extending a discounted rate of $20.00 per day for KMR guests.

Alternatively you may opt for a one time self parking fee of $90.00 for the duration of your stay.

Valet parking is $35.00 per day.
