Dr. Abraham J. Twerski


Founder and Medical Director Emeritus Gateway Rehab

For 40 years, Gateway Rehab has thrived under the guiding spirit and expert leadership of founder and medical director emeritus, Dr. Abraham J. Twerski, an internationally respected authority on the treatment of alcohol and other drug dependencies. Dr. Twerski is the author of more than 60 books, including collaborations with the late Charles Schulz, creator of the Peanuts characters.

Dr. Twerski has been a guest on many television and radio programs and has been featured in hundreds of magazines, newspapers and other publications worldwide. He lectures extensively on chemical dependency and other topics such as stress, self-esteem and spirituality. He has traveled the world as a spokesperson for recovery on behalf of the millions who have achieved it and those still finding their way.

Dr. Twerski has received many honors and awards throughout his esteemed career. At the 2010 Hope Has a Home Gala, Gateway Rehab's inpatient building in Center Township -- the first structure erected at the main campus location -- was named Dr. Abraham J. Twerski Hall or “Abe’s Place” for short.

Dr. Gail Twerski (Bessler)


Dr. Gail Bessler is a physiotherapist for ovver30 years of clinical experience. She is currently in full time private practice in Teanck NJ and Monsey NY.

Formally, Dr Bessler was clinical director of the Rackland County satellite program of Pesach Tikva, and director of education and training in their Brooklyn division.  She established student unites both at Pesach Tikvah in Brooklyn NY and Arden Hill Hospital in Goshen NY.  The units provide clinical training for graduate social work students from all the major New York schools of social work.

Currently, Dr. Bessler is focused on the treatment of sexual disorders, providing consolation, supervision and treatment in the area of human sexuality. She received her BSW, MSW, and PHD, from New York University School of Social Work, and training for sex therapy at Penn Council for Relationships in Philadelphia. She lectures and supervises professionals in the field of human sexuality and sex therapy.

Rabbi Michel Twerski




Rabbi Michel Twerski, Rebbe, Spiritual Guide, Rav and Posek of his community in Milwaukee for 53 years, has made a strong impression on the American Jewish scene.  A pioneer in the Kiruv movement, Rabbi Twerski has brought hundreds back to their roots, and has helped numerous outreach organizations establish their methods and techniques.


In addition to Rabbi Twerski’s original approach in interpreting Jewish thought, the Rebbe is also a composer of music whose melodies are enjoyed and sung throughout the Torah world.


The Rabbi and his Rebbetzin travel the world, lecturing and counseling on a myriad of topics. They have impacted upon thousands of lives from totally secular non-religious Jews to the most observant Torah scholars, and left an indelible taste of wisdom and warmth in their hearts.


Rebbetzin Feige Twerski


Rebbetzin Feige Twerski is the mother of eleven children and many grandchildren whose number she refuses to divulge. Alongside her husband, Rabbi Michel Twerski, she serves as Rebbetzin to her community in Milwaukee, and counsels people all over the globe. The Rebbetzin is a popular lecturer, speaking on a wide variety  of topics to audiences in America and overseas. She is the author of Ask Rebbetzin Feige, and more recently, of Rebbetzin Feige Responds. In


Rabbi Shea Werner


Rabbi Shea Werner was born in Monsey, NY and studied in renowned Yeshivos including Bais Dovid of Monsey, Oholei Torah of Brooklyn, Toras Emes of Yerushalayim and Ohr Elchonon of California. He is a Talmid Muvhak of Hagaon Rav Ezra Shochat.
In 1997, Rabbi Werner assumed a position as the Rosh Yeshiva of Yeshivas Oholei Yosef Yitzchok in Oak Park, MI and continued to develop the North Oak Park Community.
Rabbi Werner is currently Rav of Kehillas Chabad of North Oak Park. He serves as a member of the presidium of the Vaad Harabonim of Greater Detroit.
Rabbi Werner is best known for his deep Shiurim in Gemora, Halacha and Chassidic Philosophy. He is an inspiring lecturer and is well known for his gifted ability in personal consultation, especially in areas of Shalom Bayis and Chinuch.
